Reglan® may have dangerous interactions resulting in serious side effects if it is taken with other medications. A total of 520 drugs (3,024 brand and generic names) are known to interact with Reglan (metoclopramide). It is very important for Reglan users to provide their doctors or pharmacists with a complete list of every medication taken on a regular basis, otherwise, use of the drug may result in Reglan side effects.

Of the 520 drugs known to interact with Reglan, 53 of those drugs can cause major drug interactions. About 450 different drugs may cause moderate Reglan interactions and side effects.

It is especially important to avoid drinking alcohol while taking Reglan, as the combination may result in impaired judgment, delayed response, and reduced motor skills. The following drugs are known to have adverse interactions with Reglan:

  • acetaminophen (Tylenol)
  • atropine (Donnatal, and others)
  • benztropine (Cogentin)
  • dimenhydrinate (Dramamine)
  • methscopolamine (Pamine)
  • scopolamine (Transderm-Scop)
  • bladder or urinary medications such as darifenacin (Enablex), tolterodine (Detrol), or solifenacin (Vesicare)
  • bronchodilators such as ipratroprium (Atrovent) or tiotropium (Spiriva)
  • cyclosporine (Gengraf, Neoral, Sandimmune)
  • digoxin (digitalis, Lanoxin)
  • glycopyrrolate (Robinul)
  • irritable bowel medications such as dicyclomine (Bentyl), hyoscyamine (Anaspaz, Cystospaz, Levsin), or propantheline (Pro-Banthine)
  • levodopa (Larodopa, Atamet, Parcopa, Sinemet)
  • MAO inhibitors such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate)
  • medicines used to treat psychiatric disorders, such as chlorpromazine (Thorazine), clozapine (Clozaril, FazaClo), haloperidol (Haldol), olanzapine (Zyprexa, Symbyax), prochlorperazine (Compazine), risperidone (Risperdal), thiothixene (Navane), and others
  • mepenzolate (Cantil)
  • tetracycline (Brodspec, Panmycin, Robitet, Sumycin, Tetracap, and others)
